A WEEKEND HOME IN THE 1990'S For centuries philosophers, architects, writers, and artists, have grappled with the idea of the house in the country. It is the place to escape "city" life, where on can recharge and live a more "spiritual", "elevated", "healthy" life. A place to contrast everyday life so as to gain a perspective on it. The weekend house lends itself well to today's hectic lifestyles. Many of us long for a certain solitude and respite from our careers and responsibilities and could well do with more frequent rests and a change of environment to recharge and rejuvenate the spirit. Garavaglia Architecture has developed designs for vacation homes specific to a variety of California settings, including forest, lakefront, beach,farmland and desert. These dwellings call up imagery specific to their local setting, while allowing the owner the ability to construct the vacation home in increments.
