Established in 1986, our range of projects includes civic, commercial, institutional, and residential projects with a specialization in historic preservation and increasing focus on sustainability. While a good portion of our projects are located in the San Francisco Bay Area, we do work throughout California. Conditions Assessment Specialist »



SENIOR DRAFTER
Permanent Position

Duties:
  • Responsible for preparing construction documents, working with the Project Manager and Job Captain.
  • Candidate must understand both exterior and interior construction detailing and be able to communicate clearly with team members with quick hand sketches of proposed views of building sections and details to be drafted.
  • Candidate must use office standards to develop and describe their drawing set organization and layout, individual sheet layouts, and drafting layout process for entire drawings set.
  • Our office currently uses AutoCAD LT 2009 & 2013 and Architectural Desktop 2006. Some Sketchup program experience is useful for presentations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in architecture, preferred
  • Highly accurate and fast AutoCAD drafting skills
  • 5-7 years of experience
  • Experience or strong interest in historic preservation or existing buildings
  • Understanding of constructability required
  • Some construction experience will be of benefit for this position
  • Available immediately


CONDITIONS ASSESSMENT SPECIALIST
Permanent Position

Garavaglia Architecture, Inc. is currently seeking a Conditions Assessment Specialist with 4-6 years of experience.

Our exciting portfolio of projects includes work on individual historic structures, urban mixed-use buildings, and historic parks. Our practice emphasizes adaptive use and sustainable building practices for projects located throughout the State of California, for a variety of client types. We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team.

Duties:

The Conditions Assessment Specialist will be responsible for condition assessments and historic structures treatment recommendations and documenting the recommendations in condition assessment and historic structures reports. A key function of the position requires the specialist to collaborate with a variety of the firm's staff, including the project manager, the condition assessment report's primary author, the firm's historians, and our architectural studio.

AutoCAD construction document support is required.

Qualifications:

  • Prospective applicants should have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in architecture or historic preservation
  • Posses excellent verbal and report writing skills
  • Understand building construction, forensics, along with experience in historic preservation or rehabilitation of existing buildings
  • Understand exterior and interior construction materials and conditions and be able to communicate clearly with team members and in report writing
  • Experience with conditions assessments, design detailing, construction documents, and specifications
  • Ability to work individually in the field and produce highly organized notes for team collaboration and further writings within fee and schedule
  • Competent working with the California Historical Building Code (CHBC) and Secretary of Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation (SISR)
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD (the office currently uses AutoCAD LT 2009 & 2013, Architectural Desktop 2006), Microsoft Office and Photoshop.
